The Problem of Detection

چکیده

A number of untried ideas, or ideas not properly worked out, which might improve or supplement present chromatographic techniques are suggested. For high sensitivity the active part of a detector should be small to lessen troubles due to adsorbtion and to maintain highest possible concentrations of substances to be measured with a short time constant. Further, the problems of attaining highly quantitative results demand that measurement be made on simple decomposition products, e.g. water, C02, CH4, etc., rather than the parent substances, which have to be individually calibrated. By splitting the chromatographic stream into several fractions and performing simple reactions on each, a quantitative elementary analysis of each chromatographic peak should be possible. One of the most attractive methods of accurate measurement would be conversion first to water. Three methods are discussed in outline: electrolysis, chemical amplification, and exchange of the hydrogen in the water for tritium followed by absorption in a photographic film and counting developed grains. This latter method is probably the most sensitive that could be devised. A number of other miscellaneous suggestions are made.

A Multiagent Reinforcement Learning algorithm to solve the Community Detection Problem

Community detection is a challenging optimization problem that consists of searching for communities that belong to a network under the assumption that the nodes of the same community share properties that enable the detection of new characteristics or functional relationships in the network. Although there are many algorithms developed for community detection, most of them are unsuitable when ...

Crack Detection In Functionally Graded Beams Using Conjugate Gradient Method

In this paper the conjugate gradient (CG) method is employed for identifying the parameters of crack in a functionally graded beam from natural frequency measurement. The crack is modeled as a massless rotational spring with sectional flexibility. By using the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory on two separate beams respectively and applying the compatibility requirements of the crack, the characteris...

Improving the RX Anomaly Detection Algorithm for Hyperspectral Images using FFT

Anomaly Detection (AD) has recently become an important application of target detection in hyperspectral images. The Reed-Xialoi (RX) is the most widely used AD algorithm that suffers from “small sample size” problem. The best solution for this problem is to use Dimensionality Reduction (DR) techniques as a pre-processing step for RX detector. Using this method not only improves the detection p...

DAMAGE DETECTION OF BRIDGE STRUCTURES IN TIME DOMAIN VIA ENHANCED COLLIDING BODIES OPTIMIZATION

In  this  paper,  a  method  is  presented  for  damage  detection  of  bridges  using  the  Enhanced Colliding Bodies Optimization (ECBO)  utilizing time-domain responses. The finite element modeling of the structure is based on  the equation of motion under the moving load, and the flexural stiffness of the structure is determined by the acceleration responses obtained via sensors placed in d...
